How to wear a tiara

How to wear a tiara

Tiaras are designed to be worn horizontally on the head like a crown, not an alice band which is placed vertically with the sides just behind your ears. Arcturus do not make alice bands. The tiara bands are quite springy and can be stretched to be wider if required, if you wish to wear your tiara a little lower down. Please note though, we are unable to take stretched tiaras back into stock if you decide it is unsuitable for you.

The best thing to do is to talk to your hairdresser well in advance of the wedding. Make sure she knows what kind of hair accessory you will be buying and have a practice run through before the big day.

Some of the best advice we have seen about tiaras on-line is at Bride2b, the following has been copied from their website:

"The biggest faux pas is wearing formal tiaras the same way as one would wear an Alice band. Remember, wear the tiara and do not allow the tiara to wear you. Any headpiece is only an accessory, be swayed by the dress and overall theme of the wedding. Strictly speaking, a classic tiara should frame the hair and complement the style. This means that the hair will sit at least as high, if not higher, than the peak of the headpiece. When shopping for your tiara, try to clip your hair up to the same height as you will be wearing it on the day. Often a beautiful tiara will be overlooked or dismissed as the wrong size when worn on a flat hairstyle."

Our silver plated Starshine range are based on a standard sized tiara band measuring as follows:
The length of the tiara band from end to end measured along the outside of the curve is: 32.5cm
The diameter (or width) across the widest part is: 12.5cm

The silver plated tiara bands that we work with for our Starshine range are bought in from our wholesaler and the tiara handcrafted onto it. All other tiaras are sterling silver and the tiara band is formed by ourselves, we can therefore resize items from our Woodland, Elven and Medieval ranges to make them smaller or larger as required. Resizing is a service that we provide free of charge if the item is returned within seven days of purchase.
